Former NBA center Brendan Haywood is not very fond of the Miami Heat fans. According to him, “Miami is not a tough gym to play in.”
Haywood went as far as calling out the Heat fan base on national radio.
“They have the wine and cheese crowd. They have the late arriving crowd. They have the crowd that will leave early if their team is down,” Haywood said on Sirius XM.
“There’s a lot of eye candy… [But] as far as homecourt advantage, Miami, I’m sorry, the city doesn’t have it. It’s not in ‘em. They don’t have that same passion the fans in Portland have,” he said.
Brendan Haywood played 13 seasons in the NBA, for Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks, Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers. Haywood appeared in 816 NBA regular season games (started in 549), averaging 6.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 1.4 bpg in 22,9 mpg.
