Ex-NBA center signs to play for CBA’s Sichuan Blue Whales

daniel-ortonFormer NBA center Daniel Orton has signed to play for the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association, RealGM reported.

Reportedly, Orton, who was the 29th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft, will replace Metta World Peace on the team’s permanent roster.

Orton formally signed his lucrative contract with the Blue Whales under the plan of finishing the Chinese season alongside fellow American import Mike Efevberha.

In the NBA, Orton played for Orlando Magic, OKC Thunder and Philadelphia Sixers. He played a total of 51 games (6 started), averaging 2.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg in 10.6 mpg.

The Sixers waived Orton, and the player later ended up with the Boston Celtics’ D-league affiliate, where he appeared in 24 games.
