Ex-NBA guard Damien Wilkins signs with team in Chinese Baskeball Association


damien-wilkinsFormer NBA shooting guard Damien Wilkins has reached agreement on a contract with Beijing of the Chinese Basketball Association, a source told RealGM.

Wilkins had been searching to latch onto an NBA team, but he decided to secure a deal with the Beijing Ducks, where he will play a shortened season and continue training.

Wilkins went to training camp with the Atlanta Hawks in October.

33-year old Wilkins is the son of former NBA player Gerald Wilkins, and a nephew of NBA legend Dominique Wilkins.

Damien Wilkins played in nine NBA seasons with Seattle, Oklahoma City, Minnesota, his hometown Hawks, Detroit and Philadlephia.

He had a resurgent season a year ago with the 76ers, averaging 6.4 points on 45.9 percent shooting.

Wilkins averaged career high 9.2 ppg for Seattle in 2007-08 season. He played a total of 563 NBA games (started in 149), averaging 6.3 ppg and 2.4 rpg in 19.3 mpg.
