After six seasons in the NBA, Dickau, 34, hung up his shoes in 2011. Last fall, he and his wife moved to Spokane from Vancouver.

Dickau played in the NBA for Atlanta Hawks, Portland TrailBlazers, Dallas Mavericks, New Orlean Hornets, Boston Celtics, and LA Clippers.

He averaged career high 12.5 ppg and 4.9 apg for the Hornets and Mavericks during the 2004-05 season.

In total, Dickau appeared in 300 NBA games (57 started), averaging 5.8 ppg and 2.5 apg in 15.4 mpg.

The Barbers, which Dickau opened last week at 9331 N. Newport Highway, is his first try at operating a franchise.

His one previous business venture, a for-profit basketball camp in Vancouver, lasted about a year.

He also plans to continue offering color commentary during GU game broadcasts, a job he began in 2011 and resumed last year.
