Ex-NBA player returns to play in Russia

alexey-shvedRussia’s Khimki Moscow basketball club has reached an agreement with former NBA guard Alexey Shved, said a source in the Euroleague.

Shved signed a contract with the club until the end of the 2017-2018 season, the club said.

27-year old Shved played 42 games in the NBA last season (for Philadelphia Sixers, Houston Rockets and NY Knicks), averaging a total of 10.3 ppg in 18.3 mpg.

Previously he spent two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 6.5 ppg for the team in 17.9 mpg.

Overall Shved played 182 NBA games (25 started), averaging 7.4 ppg in 18 mpg.

Shved already played for Khimki in the 2006-07 season, averaging 1.2 points in 13 games. He also made his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut with CSKA in 2007.

Shved has played for CSKA for the best part of his career, accumulating 283 points and 75 assists in 42 Euroleague career games over 6 seasons. Shved also helped CSKA win the Euroleague title in 2008.

Shved also played for CSKA-Trinta Moscow, CSK VVS Samara and Dynamo Moscow in Russia.

He is also a member of the Russian national team and helped it win respective bronze medals at EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania and the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.
