Ex-NBA player Trent Tucker named Minneapolis Public Schools athletic director


trent-tuckerA former NBA star will be the next athletic director for Minneapolis Public Schools.

The school district announced that Trent Tucker will be replacing John Washington, who retired last fall.

Tucker is a former University of Minnesota standout and NBA champion.

He played nine seasons with the New York Knicks, one season with the San Antonio Spurs, and one season with the Chicago Bulls.

Tucker played in 756 NBA games (starting in 207), averaging 8.2 ppg in 20.7 minutes of playing time. He averaged career high 11.4 ppg for the New York Knicks back in 1986-87.

He has also spent time as a motivational speaker, a broadcast analyst for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and is the founder of the Trent Tucker University Scholars Program for underprivileged youth.
