Ex-NBA players Mateen Cleaves, Charlie Bell take part in charity event

michigan-stateEx-NBA players Mateen Cleaves, Antonio Smith and Charlie Bell participated in the 1st Annual Renal Roundball Classic at Mt. Pleasant High School on October 26, 2014, according to AthletePromotions.

The proceeds for the Renal Roundball Classic will go to support raising awareness for renal failure and living kidney donations.

After the game, Bell, Cleaves and Smith went to Riverwood Resort to meet with fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures.

Mateen Cleaves played in 167 NBA games within 6 seasons, for Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, Cleveland Cavs and Seattle Supersonics. He holds career averages of 3.6 ppg, 1.9 apg in 11.2 mpg.

Charlie Bell played in 7 NBA seasons, for Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Milwaukee Bucks and Golden State Warriors. He averaged career-high 13.5 ppg for Milwaukee in 2006-07. Bell holds career averages of 8.5 ppg, 2.3 apg in 24.9 mpg.

Antonio Smith, a 6-8 forward from Michigan, went undrafted in the 1999 NBA draft, and signed a contract with NY Knicks the same year, but never went beyond the training camp. He then signed a contract with the Detroit Pistons in 2000, but also never played a game, and was waived.
