Former NBA player Al Harrington, who is playing for the Sydney Kings of the NBL, has exploded for 27 points, helping his team defeat the Adelaide Sixers.
The Kings recorded a massive 106-84 win behind Harrington’s 27 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, the Daily Telegraph reported.
“Even when they cut the margin down to six, there was no panic,” the former NBA player said. “The guys stayed the course and we ended up winning big. It’s a step in the right direction for the team.”
In his fifth game with the Kings as an injury replacement, Harrington unleashed a 13-point second quarter to steal the momentum for the Kings.
Harrington’s shooting and great defensive effort, diving on and winning loose balls and grabbing offensive boards, helped turn a 33-all scoreline to a 55-40 lead at the main break.
Harrington spent 16 seasons in the NBA, playing for Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, NY Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards.
Signed as a free agent, Harrington appeared in 34 games for the Washington Wizards in 2013-14, averaging 6.6 ppg in 15 mpg. In total, versatile forward played in 981 NBA games (445 started), averaging 13.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg in 28.6 mpg.
