Former NBA players visit Children’s Hospital of Miami – PHOTO


Former NBA players Jerome Moiso, Otis Birdsong, Sam Vincent, George Tinsley and Thurl Bailey visited the Children’s Hospital of Miami on September 19, NBRPA reported.

The players chatted with young patients at the hospital, and posed for a photo.

Jerome Moiso played 5 seasons in the NBA, for Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets (New Orlean Hornets), Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets and Cleveland Cavs. The 6-10 forward/center appeared in 145 NBA games (3 started), averaging 2.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.5 bpg in 9.6 mpg during his career.

Otis Birdsong (chairman of NBRPA board) was a 4-time NBA All-Star. He averaged below double figures in scoring in only two of his 12 seasons in the league. He played a total of 696 NBA games (317 started), averaging 18.0 ppg in 31.1 mpg.

Sam Vincent spent 7 seasons in the NBA, playing for Boston Celtics, Seattle Supersonics, Chicago Bulls and Orlando Magic. He averaged career-high 11.2 ppg for Orlando in 1989-90. Vincent won the NBA championship with Boston in 1986. He appeared in 396 NBA games (168 started), averaging 7.8 ppg, 3.9 apg in 19.0 mpg.

George Tinsley (NBRPA board member, ex-chairman) played in ABA, averaging 5.3 ppg and 2.9 rpg in 14.0 mpg in 133 career games.

Thurl Bailey spent 11 years playing for the Utah Jazz. He averaged double figures in scoring in 8 of his seasons in the NBA. Bailey reached a career high of 19.6 ppg for the Jazz in 1987-88. He appeared in total of 928 NBA games (229 started), holding career averages of 12.8 ppg, 1.2 bpg and 5.1 rpg in 26.8 minutes per game.
