Jerry West on Tim Duncan: “I’d love to play with him”

jerry-west-nba-beyondFollowing the retirement of one of greatest NBA forwards, Tim Duncan, many former NBA players were asked to comment on the legendary player’s decision.

“He’s been an incredible player for so many years,” NBA legend Jerry West said of Duncan. “The ultimate teammate.”

“People sometimes ask, ‘who you’d want to play with?’, and I’d love to play with him,” West told NBA official website.

A 15-time All-Star, Tim Duncan won 5 NBA championships with the Spurs, along with two MVPs, three NBA Finals MVPs, fifteen All-Star appearances, and seventeen appearances on an All-NBA first, second or third team.

Duncan played 1392 career regular season games, all with the San Antonio Spurs, averaging 19 ppg, 10.8 rpg, 2.2 bpg in 34 minutes on the court.

“I’ve always admired him, even in college. He stayed 4 years in college, while it’s obvious he could’ve been a #1 pick in the draft for a number of years. Marvellous player,” West said.

“People don’t truly appreciate what he brought to the game, not just as a player, but as a person,” he added.
