Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to attend the Frederick Speaker Series


kareemLegendary former NBA center, Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is scheduled to attend the Frederick Speaker Series event, which is to be held in 2017.

Abdul-Jabbar is scheduled to speak on January 26, 2017, according to AthletePromotions.

The Frederick Speaker Series is continuing its trend of bringing the brightest minds to Frederick, Maryland.

The New York City native and all-time leading scorer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is not only known for his sports career but for his pro-active civil rights involvement, his leadership as a cultural ambassador of the United States, and his writing as a best-selling author.

Abdul-Jabbar holds NBA records for career points, Most Valuable Player Awards (6), and NBA All-Star selections (19) and is considered by many to be one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

In 1996, he was honored as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. Abdul-Jabbar played 1560 games in the NBA, averaging 24.6 ppg, 11.2 rpg in 36.8 mpg.

The LA Lakers legend was appointed as a cultural ambassador to the United States in 2012 by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
