UConn coach Kevin Ollie has yet to talk to any NBA teams for a possible coaching gig. Kevin Ollie has been linked to the Lakers and Knicks, and more teams at least have interest in the Connecticut coach.
RealGM reported that as of last week, “no NBA team has formally contacted UConn’s Kevin Ollie yet about head coach opening”.
RealGM also said that “UConn hopes to reward Kevin Ollie with extension – but he’s expected to start talks with NBA teams if no deal forms”.
After Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni announced his resignation, there were various rumors on who will become the team’s next head coach. UConn’s Kevin Ollie, a former NBA player himself was mentioned as well.
Ollie, a former NBA player himself led the Huskies to a surprise 2014 NCAA Tournament win, may have been able to help a Lakers team that had its worst season in franchise history this year, but he has recently dismissed rumors of him talking to NBA representatives for coaching possibility.
Ollie took to Twitter to denounce those reports, by tweeting “Don’t Believe everything you hear!!
Journeyman Ollie played 13 seasons in the NBA, for Dallas Mavericks, Orlando Magic, Sacramento Kings, New Jersey Nets, Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Seattle Supersonics, Cleveland Cavs, Philadelphia Sixers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder.
