Kobe Bryant is getting ready to retire, following his last 2015-2016 NBA season. Needless to say, those who see him play his last year in the league will have a lot to remember.
One man, who has more than enough to remember about Kobe Bryant is his former rival, Michael Jordan.
The Charlotte Hornets owner prepared a farewell message to Kobe Bryant, who played his last NBA game in Charlotte – which originally drafted him, but later traded to the LA Lakers.
“And I am very happy to leave you this message to say how much we’re proud of what you’ve accomplished over the years,” said Jordan in his message. “Most people don’t realize that you were drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, so that connects us with you. I’ve always been like a big brother to you, we’ve communicated all the time. ”
“I want to congratulate you on unbelievable career. I think when I look back, at the first time we played against each other, the competitive drive that I saw in your eyes, even though the knowledge wasn’t quite there yet. It was very invigorating,” Jordan said.
Jordan then spoke of Bryant’s next career, after retirement.
“I am sure you’re going to figure out, from the competitive standpoint, and I am pretty sure that you, like me, will find other ways to utilize that competitive drive,” Jordan said. “You’ve been a big help to the game of basketball, to the NBA, you helped to promote it. ”
Jordan also noted that he’s a big Kobe fan, and still loves watching him play.
“I am very happy for you and for what you’ve accomplished in the game. I am looking forward to see what you do next and if you ever need me, you have my number, let’s stay in touch,” Jordan said.Follow @exnbadotcom
