Miller, Van Exel, McGrady express support for injured Paul George

paul-george-injuryJust a few days ago, Indiana Pacers’ Paul George went down with a horrific leg injury during Team USA’s scrimmage.

In the age of social media, as expected, a lot of people expressed their support for George, including the NBA community.

Teammates, ex-teammates, rivals, vets, rookies, retired players – everyone who has suited up to play competitive basketball understands that every night there’s a risk that your body will fail you.

Injuries have prevented some truly great players from participating in key, important games, as well as full seasons and even careers. Hopefully, Paul George will be the one that recovers soon.

Among those who expressed their support for George were former NBA players Nick Van Exel, Reggie Miller and Tracy McGrady.

“Just got home and watched the Paul George highlight, kid hang in there, always light at the end of any dark tunnel!” Reggie Miller tweeted.

“Man I hate to see that happen to my man PG. Get well soon bro,” McGrady tweeted.

One of the game’s rising stars, George was expected to start for the World Cup of Basketball squad that starts play later this month in Spain on August 30. Now it’s likely surgery and a long recovery will shelve the 6-9 talent for all of next season at least.

According to some estimates, it may take up to a year for George to fully recover and be able to play on a professional level.

“We are aware of the injury sustained by Paul George in Friday night’s Team USA game in Las Vegas and we are obviously greatly concerned,” Pacers President Larry Bird said in a statement. “At this time our thoughts and prayers are with Paul.”
