More than 40 former NBA, ABA, Harlem Globetrotters players participate in “Day of Caring” – PHOTOS

nbrpa-logoAccording to NBRPA (National Basketball Retired Players Association), over 40 former players from NBA, ABA and Harlem Globetrotters participated in the “Day of Caring”.

The players reportedly visited patients at children’s hospitals in Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando and Phoenix.

In particular, prior to New Year 2014, NBRPA partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on December 19 for a “Day of Caring”.

Members of the newly-formed NBRPA Detroit Chapter spent time with patients, family and staff at Beaumont Children’s Hospital, wishing them happy holidays, sharing some shooting tips and signing autographs.

Included in the visit were Willie Norwood (Detroit Pistons), Maceo Baston (Indiana Pacers/University of Michigan) and Earl Higgins (Indiana Pacers/Eastern Michigan University).

Willie Norwood played 7 seasons in the NBA, with Detroit Pistons, Seattle Sonics and Portland TrailBlazers. He played in total of 430 NBa games, averaging 7.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg in 17.1 mpg.

Maceo Baston seen playing time with Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors in the NBA, playing a total of 105 NBA games (4 started). He averaged 2.7 ppg and 1.7 rpg in 7.9 mpg. After his rookie season, Baston played three years in Israel, then returning to the NBA.

Earl Higgins played one season (53 games) in ABA, with Indiana Pacers, averaging 4.4 ppg in 8.8 mpg.
