NBA Hall of Famer passes away at age 95


Former NBA player, a Hall of Famer Kenny Sailors passed away at age 95. Sailors died in his sleep at an assisted living home in Laramie, Wyo., University of Wyoming athletic director Tom Burman said in a statement.

Sailors, a college basketball Hall of Famer, is given credit by some as the first basketball player to shoot the jump shot.

Sailors was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.

Sailors led Wyoming to the NCAA championship in 1943 as the national player of the year and most outstanding player of the tournament.

After college, Sailors played both in the BAA (Basketball Association of America) and the NBA.  He averaged career-high 17.3 ppg during the 1949-50 NBA season.

He holds a career average of 12.6 points and 2.8 apg, appearing in total of 276 games (159 – BAA, 117 – NBA).
