People around ex-NBA star Lamar Odom continue to die

People close to former NBA star Lamar Odom continue to die. Just days after Odom’s friend Jamie Sangouthai died from a drugs-related infection, another friend of Odom – Bobby Heyward has passed away.

30-year old Heyward was reportedly friends with both Odom and late Jamie Sangouthai, US Weekly reported.

Sangouthai died on June 14, while Heyward’s most recent Instagram post was actually a tribute to his late friend.

US Weekly reports that sources have claimed Heyward’s death was due to a drug overdose, however no official confirmation has been made by authorities.

People close to Lamar Odom have expressed concern that pressure that Odom is having due to his friend’s passing can negatively affect him, and push him back to doing drugs. Now, Odom has two friends who have died one after another.

Odom averaged a career-low 4.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for the LA Clippers in his last NBA season (2012-2013). In total, Odom played 14 seasons in the NBA, for LA Clippers, LA Lakers, Miami Heat, and Dallas Mavericks.

Never an All-Star, Odom still averaged solid numbers in his first 12 seasons in the league. He holds career averages of 13.3 ppg, 8.4 rpg in 33.4 mpg, appearing in 961 career NBA games (starting in 684).
