Sebastian Telfair hopes that his time playing in China last year will rejuvenate his career now that he’s back in the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder, RealGM reported.
Telfair averaged 26 points per game last season in China.
“I’m definitely unsatisfied,” Telfair said of his career. “I’m a hooper, I’m a player, I like to play a lot. I just didn’t get as many opportunities as I would have liked.”
Telfair turned down a two-year, $7 million deal in China for a $1.3 million veteran’s minimum deal with the Thunder.
“I was able to prove things to myself, getting an opportunity to play 30-something minutes a night, just go out there and hoop,” Telfair said. “Your team expects you to be a guy who scores 30 points a night for you to win. That was a big part of me going down there. Just to get that opportunity to get my legs back up under me.”
Telfair played 9 years in the NBA, seeing court action with Portland TrailBlazers, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, LA Clippers, Cleveland Cavs, Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors.
He averaged career high 9.8 ppg during the 2008-09 season for Minnesota. He hasn’t played in the NBA during the 2013-14 season. Telfair holds career averages of 7.4 ppg and 3.5 apg in 21.6 mpg. He played a total of 548 NBA games, starting in 192.Follow @exnbadotcom
