It’s on. The WWE’s superstar Big Show (Paul Wight) has directly proposed former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal to wrestle at next year’s Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando.
The event is scheduled to be held on April 2, 2017.
Shaq, after asking “You sure you want to do that?”, agreed, and shook Big Show’s hand.
The Big Show confirmed to the Shanghai Daily that the fight is going to happen.
“At next year’s Wrestlemania in Orlando, Wight will also come face to face with former NBA basketball player Shaquille O’Neal, another sporting heavyweight, for a match that might just shake the foundations of pro wrestling.”
“We’ll have one heck of a match and we’ll see what’s up. We’ll give the fans a treat,” said Big Show.
Meanwhile, O’Neal already hinted at the possible match with Big Show back in April.
“But the next time I fight the Big Show, and bodyslam him over the table, there ain’t going to be anything to talk about,” O’Neal said at the time. “It’s going down next year, in Orlando.”
A dominant force in the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal was selected to 15 all-star Games, won four NBA titles (three with Los Angeles Lakers, one with Miami Heat).
He is considered to be among the best centers ever to play in the NBA. O’Neal played in 1207 NBA games (1197 started), averaging 23.7 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 2.3 bpg in 34.7 minutes of action.
