Shaq praises Spurs, says Derrick Rose got quickness, explosiveness back

shaq-on-tntTNT analyst, NBA great Shaquille O’Neal recently spoke with NBA.com about the upcoming season and expressed some thoughts on some things to look out for in the upcoming season.

In particular, O’Neal spoke highly of the San Antonio Spurs, noting they Popovich’s team could win another NBA Championship.

“They actually have what it takes. It’s going to come down to health, to time management. If they keep moving the ball like they did during the last playoffs, I see them repeating very easily. The Spurs will have a superb season,” O’Neal said.

He also named the teams “to watch”, which are Cleveland (with recently acquired Kevin Love and LeBron James), as well as Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls.

“I’ve been watching Derrick Rose with Team USA, he’s got his quickness back, he’s got his explosiveness back, so I am looking forward to see what Chicago does,” Shaq said, when asked about Derrick Rose’s upcoming season, as he’s looking forward to play strong after all his injuries.

“Good thing with the NBA is that every year is a chance for someone to step up, and be the best big man, the best player, the best comeback player and so on,” Shaq said.

O’Neal himself played in 1207 NBA games (1197 started), averaging 23.7 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 2.3 bpg in 34.7 minutes of action. He was a 15-time NBA All-Star, and won 4 NBA championships (three with Los Angeles Lakers, one with Miami Heat).
