Former NBA superstar Steve Nash believes that had he stayed with the Dallas Mavericks, the team would’ve won more.
“”I think yeah we would have won maybe more than one championship if we would have stayed together,” he told Huffington Post. “You know, Mark’s [Cuban] put incredible resources into that team. Energy, passion, ideas.”
“I think I played my best basketball from that point on,” he added. “Obviously Dirk was unbelievable and won a championship there, and I think it could have been something great, but I don’t spend much time thinking about it. But the arrogant cocky part of me is like, ‘Yeah, would would have won.'”
The Mavs’ owner Mark Cuban by the way has said that letting Nash walk away was the “worst move” he’s made as owner of the Mavs.
Steve Nash was a 2-time NBA MVP and participated in 8 All-Star games. He led the NBA in assists in six seasons, and in assists per game in 5 seasons. He played a total of 1217 NBA games (started in 1053) during 18 seasons, for Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and LA Lakers.
Nash holds career averages of 14.3 ppg, 8.5 apg, and 31.3 mpg. Nash shot over 90 percent from freethrow line and 49 percent from the field during regular seasons.
