Yao Ming towers over everyone on Philippines visit – PHOTOS

yao-1Former NBA superstar Yao Ming arrived here Saturday night on board Philippine Airlines flight PR 337 for the two-day exhibition matches between his Shanghai Sharks and the country’s best players.

When Yao was greeted by Philippine Vice-President Jejomar Binay it didn’t look like a fair game of one-on-one.

The pair came face-to-face during Ming’s courtesy call at the Coconut Palace, the official residence of the vice-president Manila, Philippines.

Yao Ming (7ft 5in) and his Shanghai Sharks basketball team were invited by the Philippine Sports Commission for friendly exhibition games with a selection of Philippine basketball players and to conduct basketball clinics to less-privileged children.

Yao played 8 years in the NBA – all for the Houston Rockets. He holds career averages of 19 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game, and 1.9 blocks per game.

He announced his retirement in 2011 due to recurring foot and ankle injuries.

Yao appeared in 486 NBA games (476 started), and was selected to the NBA All-Star team 8 times.
