Horry, Cummings, Ceballos, other ex-NBA stars to discuss racism in sports

Former NBA players Spencer Haywood, Robert Horry, Terry Cummings, Cedric Ceballos, Jayson Williams and legendary Oscar Robertson will participate in a roundtable on “The Business of Sports: Race, Diversity and Inclusion; Leveling the Playing Field on and off the Field” on July 1, NBRPA reported.

Scott Rochelle and Mark Scoggins will represent the National Basketball Retired Players Association, which Oscar Robertson co-founded and served as its first President.

The roundtable will be organized by the Rainbow Push Coalition – a non-profit organization formed as a merger of two non-profit organizations founded by Jesse Jackson — Operation PUSH and the National Rainbow Coalition. The organizations pursue social justice, civil rights and political activism.

The panel will also include former NFL players, WWE superstars, women’s basketball representatives, as well as other experts and sports agents.

The participants are set to discuss the issues of racism and the lack of diversity, as well as inclusion, within the multibillion dollar sports industry.

There will be meaningful dialogue on the perpetual causes of racism in sports, with the goal to begin strategizing solutions that foster opportunities to level the playing field both on and off the field.
