Jeff Hornacek wasn’t an explosive guard, who would dunk on 7-foot centers, and yet he made enough of impact in the NBA to make sure players on the opposing team would fear him.
Several years after his rookie season in the NBA, the opponents knew two things: do not leave Jeff Hornacek open (especially on the 3-point line), and do not try to foul him.
A 1992 NBA All-Star, Hornacek is remembered for his 7 seasons with the Utah Jazz, where he got traded from the Philadelphia 76ers and where he fit right in with John Stockton and Karl Malone.
Hornacek helped the Jazz reach the NBA finals twice in 1997 and 1998. In his last NBA season, Hornacek shot 47% from 3-point range and led the NBA in free throw shooting with 95%.
He played a total of 1077 NBA games (started in 910), averaging 14.5 ppg, 4.9 apg in 31.5 mpg.
