Poll: 39% wish Larry Bird & Magic Johnson played on one team

We often wish to see the greatest court rivalries playing together on one team. In NBA’s previous years, it almost never happened, with the exception of all-star games or Team USA.

And still, it was interesting to find out who of the greatest NBA players the fans wish played together.

According to a recent ExNBA poll, 39 percent of voters would’ve wanted to see Larry Bird (Boston Celtics) and Magic Johnson (LA Lakers) play on one team. Even today, the “Larry vs Magic” is remembered as the perfect basketball rivalry.

Next answer was “Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley”, which gained 25% of all votes. Jordan and the Bulls held great battles against Barkley’s Philadelphia Sixers and the Phoenix Suns. In the 1993 NBA Finals, Jordan won his 3rd title over Barkley’s suns.

16 percent of voters chose “Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant”. These two greats also never played together on a regular NBA team.

11 percent believe “Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell” would’ve made a great team. Chamberlain (2 NBA titles) might have benefitted a lot more from this than Russell (11 NBA titles).

10 percent wish Shaquille O’Neal played together with Tracy McGrady. McGrady, by the way, wanted to play with Shaq himself, however it never happened.
